What is overwhelm?

We often talk about being overwhelmed and how to deal with that.  But let’s just clarify what is overwhelm?

overwhelm

Overwhelm is a state of being that many busy working women and mothers know all too well. It’s the feeling of being completely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of tasks and responsibilities you have to take on.

Working mothers in particular juggle an endless list of tasks from their professional lives, as well as family commitments that can stretch them thin.

Left unchecked, this feeling of overwhelm can have significant implications for your physical and mental health. Women may experience symptoms such as fatigue, anxiety, depression or even burnout if they don’t find ways to effectively manage their workloads and stress levels.

Being overwhelmed is a deep emotional response to countless thoughts and experiences.

Chronic overwhelm

For some people, their concept of ‘overwhelm’ is much more serious and can leave them asking much deeper questions of themselves. It is critical that these people seek appropriate advice, guidance, and support from a qualified medical professional who is trained to give the support needed. This article is not intended for people in a chronic state of overwhelm.

Creating balance in your life to deal with 'overwhelm'

Creating balance in life can be difficult for many of us, as we often find ourselves overwhelmed and unable to manage the stress associated with a busy lifestyle. With so many competing interests and responsibilities, it can be difficult to know where to start when it comes to finding balance.

Fortunately, there are several strategies that can help you create a more balanced lifestyle. One important step is to learn how much time you should devote to each activity or task so that no one area becomes overbearing. Take some time for yourself each day and make sure that you practice self-care – this could include exercise, spending time outdoors, or even something as simple as listening to music. Establishing boundaries is also essential; try setting aside specific times in your schedule for work and family events so that they don’t conflict with one another
